I remember when I was a little girl, my older brother had a wood burning set. I was fascinated by all the cool designs he used to create, but I only tried it once back then. He showed me how to do it, and that was that. I made one and never did it again… until a couple years ago.

In 2023 I signed up for a subscription box through Amazon. I wanted to try something different. I was looking for monthly craft projects, but everything was “frilly” or more girly. I just wanted to try some new stuff!
I signed up for Craftsman Crate. It’s important to mention here that this is NOT a sponsored post, they don’t even know I’m posting this honestly. Amazon cancelled the subscription box services they offered, so I have multiple boxes waiting to be worked on. But Craftsman Crate still offers their subscription boxes through their website.

The box included everything I needed, the wood burning tool, several pieces of wood, patterns, transfer paper etc. I chose three patterns (hummingbird, dandelions, daisy) and the wood coasters and got to work!

After tracing the design over the transfer paper onto the wood square, then I used the wood burning tool to trace over the transferred design.

They included instructions and tips which were very helpful. Especially since I hadn’t used a wood burning tool since the 70s!

Overall this was a fun project. I love that I now have a wood burning tool that I can create more projects with.

Have you ever done any wood burning? Tell me about it below!
Oh and guess what? I started a TikTok account just for my craft projects. Be sure to follow me there!
I love to create and share my projects with you! I know it’s hard to remember to come back and search, so I’ve made it easy for you with my weekly newsletter! You can subscribe for free and I’ll send you fun crafts and delicious recipes every week right to your email.
