Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayZack Snyder recently teased that his DCEU could have included a major DC storyline. During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Snyder was asked about a potential DC alternate-universe narrative project, but his response was vague.
Josh Horowitz brought up the topic of DCEU’s Flashpoint adaptation during the podcast interview. However, Snyder’s reaction to this was vague; the director responded, “That’s cool.”
This topic arose when Horowitz mentioned a previous conversation with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. During this conversation, Morgan revealed that Snyder had discussed a potential Flashpoint project with him. When the host followed up by asking, “Was it part of the plan for J?” Snyder said, “Sure. It could have been.”
Flashpoint is an alternate-universe storyline in DC Comics in which Flash travels back in time to save his mother. However, this creates a dark alternative timeline. In this timeline, Thomas Wayne takes on the role of Batman after young Bruce’s death. Since Morgan played Thomas in 2016’s Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, his role would have been integral to the SnyderVerse’s Flashpoint.
Zack Snyder’s DCEU was already laying the groundwork for a Flashpoint movie
The director’s response to the Flashpoint project may have been brief; however, according to Morgan, Flashpoint Batman was part of Snyder’s plans for the DCEU.
In an old interview, The Walking Dead actor said, “I think there was a time when Flashpoint Batman would have seen these characters in a much bigger role. And that was part of the Zack world of all of it, and then I never got a chance to do that, unfortunately.”
Flashpoint was reportedly envisioned as the ultimate conclusion of the SnyderVerse, thereby closing the ten-year roadmap he laid out for the DCEU. In the ten-year plan, Snyder had planned a Flash Trilogy movie, a Ben Affleck Batman standalone feature, Justice League 2 and 3, and a solo feature for Cyborg. However, due to poor critical reception and a change in studio executives, this project was allegedly scrapped.
