Zendaya has another movie in the works!

The actress is set to star in an untitled sci-fi film from writer and director Alex Garland at A24, according to TheWrap.

The project will bring Zendaya back to the company behind her recent movie The Drama, while Alex has worked with A24 on several films, including Ex Machina, Civil War and Warfare.

What Do We Know About Zendaya’s New Sci-Fi Movie?

The film is expected to begin shooting in 2027, according to the outlet.

Details about the story and Zendaya‘s character are still under wraps. The report does not name any co-stars or give a release date, so the planned filming year does not mean the movie will arrive in theaters next year.

What Other Movies Has Alex Garland Directed?

Alex previously wrote and directed Ex Machina, which follows a programmer tasked with evaluating an advanced robot, and Civil War. He co-wrote and co-directed Warfare with Ray Mendoza, and wrote the two most recent 28 Years Later movies.

He’s currently in post-production on the movie adaptation of Elden Ring, which is scheduled for release in 2028.

As for Zendaya, she starred opposite Robert Pattinson in The Drama earlier this year.

Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, that movie follows an engaged couple whose wedding plans are thrown into chaos by an unexpected revelation. Its cast also includes Alana Haim and Mamoudou Athie.
