Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDaredevil: Born Again Season 2 has been a big hit for Marvel Studios, and recently featured a major return that fans have been hoping for, one that will shake up the MCU moving forward.

Luke Cage’s return is major for the future of the MCU
During the eighth episode of Daredevil: Born Again’s second season, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage made his long-awaited return to the world of Marvel. Cage’s return is a brief one that can be described more as a cameo than anything, and sees Cage return to help Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and their daughter, Danielle Cage.
While brief, the return sets up Cage and Jones’ major arrival for the third season of Born Again, which is also rumored to see the return of Finn Jones’ Danny Rand/Iron Fist. On the topic of Cage, though, it’s a major return that sets up a very fun third season, and more specifically, shakes up the MCU moving forward.
The return of Colter as Cage is one that fans have been waiting on for some time. Now that he’s back and alongside Jones and Daredevil, 75% of the original Defenders group, which briefly appeared in their own television show, is reunited, and could be whole by the time Season 3 kicks off. While it’s unclear what this means going forward, the MCU is no stranger to giving big groups a lot of air time, and fans are already hoping that The Defenders get more than just a season to be together.
Cage’s return also sets the stage for Colter to potentially begin appearing in other projects set in the MCU. In Marvel’s Comics, Cage is often seen with The Defenders, but is also a member of the New Avengers, often seen alongside the likes of Spider-Man and Wolverine. He’s also been a member of the Thunderbolts before, a group that’s appeared in its own MCU project. With the Avengers likely to undergo a massive change following the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, could Colter be ready for a call up to the major leagues of the MCU?
Speaking to ScreenRant, Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum seemed to hope so, noting “We’re so excited to work with Mike again. I mean, he is Luke Cage. When you’re in a room with the guy, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m sitting across from Luke Cage right now.’ The fact that we came back to that scene, hopefully, it leads to more. You never can tell.”
