JENNIE has a new song on the way!

The BLACKPINK singer will release “Someone to Hold” for the soundtrack to Netflix‘s upcoming animated movie Steps.

The movie and its companion soundtrack arrive on November 20, but fans can already hear a preview of the song in the newly released trailer. The album also features new music from Amanda Seyfried, Rose Gray and EMEI, with a score by Kris Bowers.

What Did JENNIE Say About “Someone to Hold”?

In a statement shared by Netflix, JENNIE revealed that the track marks her first song for an animated film.

“I am so excited to join the Steps family and it was really fun making my first song for an animated film!” she said.

“I love how much heart and personality the characters have, and I’m so happy I got to be a little part of their world. I hope you enjoy Steps and ‘Someone to Hold’ as much as I do and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it!”

The film’s directors, Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, said the song represents the sisterhood between the movie’s three central characters: Lilith, Cinderella and Margot.

What Other Songs Are on the Steps Soundtrack?

Justin Tranter wrote and produced the soundtrack’s four original songs alongside the project’s collaborators.

In Netflix’s announcement, Justin described JENNIE‘s “Someone to Hold” as “pure danceable joy inspired by vintage organic dance pop.”

Rose Gray contributes “Meet Me on the Dance Floor,” while Amanda Seyfried sings “Smile and a Song.” EMEI also contributes a song inspired by Lilith’s experience of feeling overlooked.

Justin said dance music connects much of the soundtrack, with Amanda‘s musical-theater number offering a different sound.

What Is Steps About, and Who Is in the Cast?

Steps tells a different version of the Cinderella story, putting her stepsisters at the center of the adventure.

After Lilith steals the Fairy Godmother’s wand and takes over the Royal Ball with her sister Margot, their actions leave the kingdom in the hands of Priscilla. Lilith must then work with Cinderella to put things right.

Ali Wong voices Lilith, Stephanie Hsu plays Margot and Amanda Seyfried voices Cinderella. The cast also includes Nikki Glaser, Daniel Radcliffe, Young Mazino, Peter Dinklage and Bette Midler. Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell and Kim Lessing produce the movie.
