Ruaridh Mollica is opening up about his own sexuality and that of his character Tommy Maximoff on the new Marvel series VisionQuest.
The 27-year-old actor had his big break in the 2024 movie Sebastian and he has also been seen in the TV shows Ridley and The Franchise. His role in VisionQuest is definitely his most mainstream project to date!
Ruaridh has been very open and honest about his sexuality in real life and now he’s also filling fans in on Tommy’s sexuality as well.

Ruaridh Mollica identifies as bisexual and queer
Ruaridh says that his work helped him realize his queerness and he discovered his attraction to men when he moved to London.
Back in 2024, he told Queerty, “My queerness definitely feels like a journey that I’m still going on. And so, for a long time, I knew that I wasn’t straight, but I still felt like I was, and then it was only when I moved to London and had the ability to be myself that I realized, ‘Oh actually, no, I like men as well.’ And that journey—there was a short film I did called Too Rough, and that made me look at my sexuality head on. And the same with Sebastian as well—it made me reflect, and that’s what I think this film is meant to do. From this film, I’m living my true self.”
In the same interview, he added, “in terms of my queerness—a lot of my family and friends know how identify and things like that, but a lot of the don’t! And that’s the that kind of thing that, now that this has been released, it’ll probably bring up that question probably more often.”
Ruaridh told The Skinny that he prefers the term “queer,” but identifies as bisexual.
“The circles I moved in at school and uni were not really queer circles, so I only started to learn about queer culture as I was coming out in London,” he said.

Ruaridh confirms that Tommy Maximoff is bisexual as well
“I feel like Marvel did a great job by casting a bisexual actor for this and it’s such an honor to be portraying that in the MCU,” he told Variety. “I feel so seen.”
Tommy isn’t shown on screen as being attracted to men though.
“He’s flirting with Lisa Molinari, but I think that’s makes me feel more seen as bisexual,” he said. “Because that’s the whole point. It’s not necessarily about who you’re dating, it’s about who you are inside, and who you want to flirt with. So I hope that me being bisexual and playing this part is good for people to feel seen and represented.”
