Arch Manning is apologizing for a recent comment he made about a viral AI video.

The 22-year-old Texas Longhorns quarterback was asked during a press conference on Monday (September 14) if he had watched any fan-edited clips from his team’s comeback win on social media.

He noted that he had and commented on an AI video of his coach, Steve Sarkisian, slapping reporter Holly Rowe.

“I’ve seen a few AI edits of stuff, but that’s about it. I saw an AI edit of Sark‘s interview,” he said with a laugh, via ESPN. “Have y’all seen that one? That’s a good one. Of him slapping Holly Rowe? It’s hilarious.”

The real video that the AI edit came from features Holly interviewing Steve after a game on Saturday (September 12), where the coach abruptly walks off after she asked a question. He responded, “Texas fitht. Hooke em!” and walks away, but the AI video shows him slapping her, and she falls to the ground as he walks off.

On Tuesday (September 15), Arch took to his Instagram story to issue a public apology.

“In my press conference yesterday, I made an insensitive comment about an AI video. There is nothing funny about it,” he shared on his story. “It’s easy to say I didn’t mean it, but I know my words and actions were hurtful to a lot of people. I do not take that lightly and am deeply sorry for that.”

“I specifically want to apologize to Holly Rowe for what she has personally had to deal with because of my comments,” Arch continued. “I have a ton of respect for her and appreciate her showing me grace in this moment. I need to do better and will be more thoughtful going forward.”

Holly reposted Arch‘s apology on her own Instagram story and thanked him.

“Thank you Arch. I appreciate our conversation about this- which will remain private,” she wrote. “Apology accepted. We move forward with respect and kindness for one another.”
