Furious Key Art Hulu

Furious is going over very well with critics and audiences alike.

Created by Liz Meriwether, who also created New Girl, The Dropout and Dying for Sex, the new Hulu show premiered on the streamer on Monday (July 27).

Here’s an official synopsis:

Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating female serial killer (Lola Petticrew). Both walk their paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur.

The series also stars Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Jake Lacy.

Now that the show is out, critics are weighing in with their first thoughts. What are people saying about Furious so far?

Furious Season 1 has a 100% Perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The show also has a 95% Fresh score from viewers so far.

THR writes: “It’s a tough watch, but a gratifying corrective to the Criminal Minds and Law & Orders of the world.”

Vulture writes: “Victimized girls and women who sound like feathers deserve more weight than they’ve been given, and Furious, by tapping into the anger we should all be feeling, strives to give it to them.”

TheWrap says: “Immensely watchable despite any missteps, this series from the estimable Elizabeth Meriwether shocks and saddens on the regular.”

RogerEbert.com gave it a 3.5 out of 4, writing: “What this series has done is shift the genre from one that asks its audience to gawk at the violence enacted upon women and girls, and instead forces them to confront how these acts shape the people around us.”

Collider gave it an 8 out of 10, writing: “It might not be the clear-cut cat-and-mouse thriller that marketing has made it out to be, but that only makes more room for what Furious best embodies at its most successful: a barely contained scream of female rage.”

CBR gave it a 9 out of 10, adding: “[Emmy] Rossum is an intense force as FBI agent Alice Black, giving her best performance yet.”
