Lamorne Morris is shooting his shot with a former co-star!

During the new episode of New Girl rewatch podcast The Mess Around with Hannah and Lamorne, the 42-year-old Emmy-winning actor told co-host Hannah Simone that he was spontaneously going to call up friend and former co-star Nasim Pedrad and ask her out on a date.

Hannah, 45, was incredibly supportive of this new development, noting, “Everybody’s been wanting this. Everybody’s been shipping this for a long time.”

Lamorne then called Nasim, 44, and held his phone up to the microphone as they talked.

“I was just like, ‘You know what, I’m just going to date Nasim in real life.’ So … what’s up?” he said as Nasim giggled on the other end of the phone.

“You got a man? You dating somebody?” Lamorne added. “I just saw you the other day, you seemed single.”

“Are you asking me out on a date?” Nasim responded, still seeming a bit confused by the whole thing.

“Not a date, just more like, let’s just be boyfriend-girlfriend,” Lamorne doubled down.

From the side, Hannah continued encouraging Lamorne, but reminded him to take things slow and ask her on a date first.

Lamorne then pointed out that over the years, and and Nasim had gone on “many a date as friends,” even though she considered those “dates” as more of “friendship-hands.”

“So yeah, I’m going to ask you on a date,” Lamorne concluded. “I don’t know when — I’m busy, so I ain’t got the time. But I will make the time!”

To everyone’s surprise, Nasim agreed, saying, “I’m down! Let’s go on a date!”

Lamorne then promised to bring a rose and said he would wear his “spicy cologne” for the date.

If you forgot, Nasim joined New Girl for season four when her character Aly was introduced as Winston’s (Lamorne) police partner. By the end of the series, their characters were engaged and welcomed a child together.
